Congratulations to all those that competed in our 4th & final round of series 1 competition. We had a total of 35 riders including 10 nippers attend the day which was a great turn out. There were some intense battles right across all the classes with final podium places still up for grabs for the end of Series 1. With some familiar faces and also some new faces onto the podium. Well done to all our riders! Results: 50cc Auto - 1st Sienna #32 MiniWheels - 1st Chad #17 65cc - 1st Lincoln #62 85cc - 1st Nathan #11 JBW - 1st Declan #91 Some podium pics can be found here & the full results have been posted to the website which can also be found here... It’s been a fantastic start to the year with so many existing and new members turning up to ride week in week out and thanks to all the helpers throughout the year for your continued support of the club. Up next we have the Baulkham Hills Minikhana Interclub on Sunday 19th May. Entries close this Thursday so if you haven’t already entered please do so here! asap. We’d love to see as many of you there as possible. Go Hornsby!!! On Sunday many Hornsby riders ended their school holidays on a high by competing in the Minikhana Come and Try day held as a Motorcross event at Dargle Farm. This event gave the Minikhana kids a taste of Motorcross with most groups racing 20 on the grid.
The early start to the day meant the grass was frosty however the sun shone throughout the day creating a beautiful warm day for great riding and spectating. once all riders were signed on and the cows were moved off the track the kids all did some siting laps and got to know the bumps and grooves on the track as many of them were riding this track for the first time. Each class then had 3 x 3 lap races and points were accumulated for an overall winner. A few of our riders were combined with other grades so C grade riders were racing against A grade riders to maximise the grids and all them showed great skill and sportsmanship on the track. As always the Hornsby kids also shined off the track. The way these kids support each other and look out for each other is to be commended. The Hornsby parents are always proud of our crew! Well done to all the riders that competed on the day and congratulations to those that were able to take home a trophy and also a big thank you to all the Mum's and Dads that volunteered to marshal, and a HUGE Thank You to the sports committee that ran the event! After the humidity and rain over the last few events no one was complaining today about the nice dry and cool weather for Series 1 Round 3. A record number of riders attended the day with 48 in total.
Xpresso Coffee ensured all the adults started the day with a caffeine hit and a smile and our Race Secretary, canteen coordinators and scrutineers got busy with their morning jobs ensuring everyone was signed on, fed and had their bikes cleared into the pits. Today's events included Bending, Orange, Ring Return, Slow, Accelerate & Brake, Footed Clover and Mini cross. Conditions weren't easy as there had been some rain the night before which meant the dirt was grippy compared to usual & created some problems for riders whom are used to sliding their way around the courses. All classes besides the 50s had big numbers and it was nice to see some different winners shared across the events. This showed that riders were competitive and many new riders this year are showing great improvement with practise. After a busy lunch there was a ‘Castrol kit’ raffled off for the day with rider #98 going home with a box full of goodies. There were 2 motos planned for the afternoon which provided some very tight racing between all classes and that was kicked off with our 10 nippers tearing up the track for a 7 minute moto followed by the rest of the groups with 3 lap heats & 3 lap finals. The larger groups had to work a little harder as riders had to do well in their heats to make it through to the finals. While there was fun on the track, there was also fun off the track with riders taking the wait time for their race to connect socially with other riders. Results: 50cc Auto - 1st Sienna #32 MiniWheels - 1st Joel #45 65cc - 1st Jordan #751 85cc - 1st Byron #61 JBW - 1st Alex #24 The full results have been posted to the website and can also be found here We also have a stack of photos by our ‘unofficial’ photographer & proud Minikhana dad...Steve Jackson who has been spotted hiding amongst the trees to capture some fantastic shots of the day which you can see here! Next Saturday 6th April we have Race Pace coaching followed by a working bee on Sunday 7th April. Please come and lend a hand if you can. Many hands make light work! Go Hornsby!!! Name: Summer

On Sunday 17th March HJDBC were hosts to Rnd 1 of the Interclub series for 2019 and without fail it was going to be yet another wet day of competition with more than 1 months worth of rain predicted over the course of the weekend.
181 riders which included 50 nippers braved the wet conditions and were ready to commence sign on & scrutineering. After a quick inspection of the grounds it was determined by officials during riders briefing that the events would be cut short slightly. The large MX track couldn’t be used as there was too much standing water and the ‘Figure 8' course was also scrapped for the same reason. However the small MX track was looking good and this was to be used for the 50cc’s, Miniwheels & nippers only. That left 5 roped events for the day which included: Orange, Footed Clover, Bending, Slow, Ring Return. All of these areas looked okay but with the continuous rainfall it was going to be challenging to say the least for both riders & marshals. By 9.00am riding finally got underway as riders and marshals made their way to the event areas. Our 2 largest groups were MW “C” grade with 25 riders & 65cc “C’ grade with 18 riders. Our nipper riders had use of a dedicated ‘event area’ aswell as bush trails to keep them busy for the day. The large awning at JT proved to be a popular hang for most of the day as spectators tried to stay dry and watch their riders. The coffee van was also very popular with hot beverages a plenty thanks Xpresso Hornsby. Congratulations to all riders for attending. For the full list of results click here. The Hornsby podium winners are: Tia #207 - 3rd MW - A Grade Joel #45 - 2nd MW - C Grade Dylan #94 - EQ 3rd MW - C Grade Andy #230 - EQ 3rd MW - C Grade Beau #98 - 1st 65cc - B Grade Sam #150 - 2nd 65cc - B Grade Jordan #751 - 65cc - B Grade Danny #44 - 1st 65cc - C Grade Byron #61 - 3rd 85cc SW - B Grade Nathan #11 - 3rd 85cc SW - C Grade Declan #91 - 2nd JBW - A Grade Alex #24 - 1st JBW - B Grade Amy #191 - 1st JBW - C Grade Thankyou to all our sponsors as this day would not be possible without your contribution. Also a big thankyou to all those that helped in preparation for this event...it was another amazing effort by our small club & committee especially is such ‘trying’ conditions. A big thankyou goes out to Adam and the JT club for allowing us to use their grounds once again this year. And finally a big thanks to Steve Jackson who came up and captured some great photographs on the day. Click here to see the action! Go Hornsby!!! Name: Jack

A warm day once again didn't stop eager riders lining up for the many events again.
The morning BBQ kept everyone going and after the compulsory riders briefing 32 helmets, 32 goggles and 64 boots made their way to the pits to start their engines! One by one our riders left the pit area and headed towards the required event areas. Events of the morning included; Orange, Bending, Ring Return, Slow, Non Footing Clover and AccelR8. Another amazing BBQ lured everyone back to the clubhouse for an early lunch...we even got to sample some awesome chocolate cake thanks to rider #8...Happy Birthday Summer! We hope you enjoyed your day! As usual the afternoon session was out on the minicross track with some warm up laps closely followed by heats and finals. The format was slightly changed to 3 lap heats & 3 lap finals to keep the riders busy and it also provided great racing for the spectators too! Thanks to our volunteers from St Johns who are always trackside just in case! We like it when they are super quiet. Also a big shout out to Steve Jackson who once again has captured the true passion of this sport and this great club with some amazing photographs.
