On Sunday 21st July Junior Trials club held the 4th rnd of the Minikana Interclub series. This was a slightly unique event compared with other interclubs in that it was to be a timed enduro event. Riders from all the clubs around Sydney gathered at the Gwandalan track which is known for rain only to find...a dry track!
The car park was full and excitement was in the air as riders signed on for the day and transponders were fitted to bikes before they were scrutineered into the pits. Riders were split into three groups, nippers, 50cc & Miniwheels and then 65 and 85cc riders, each with their own Enduro loop. After completing the siting lap all riders had the opportunity for a prologue lap which recorded their times and determined the placing for the next race. There appeared to be some challenging corners with a few riders missing some corners altogether! After each lap the previous time then determined the new placement. In total the riders completed approx 7 laps for the day which isn’t too bad considering lap times averaged from approx 2.30 - 6.30. Transponder times were taken for each lap and this was used to find the fastest riders for the day. The top 5 riders in each class received a trophy and Hornsby were very well represented on the podium with the following results.. 50cc C Grade - 2nd #25 50cc B Grade - 2nd #32 50cc A Grade - 1st #5 MW C Grade - 1st #8 MW B Grade - 5th #94 MW A Grade - 2nd #207 65cc C Grade - 3rd #23 65cc B Grade - 3rd #751 65cc B Grade - 1st #34 65cc A Grade - 5th #62 65cc A Grade - 3rd #150 85cc C Grade - 3rd #37 85cc B Grade - 5th #61 JBW B Grade - 5th #414 JBW B Grade - 1st #191 JBW A Grade - 5th #24 JBW A Grade - 3rd #91 All this riding would not be possible without our parent volunteers, marshals, sweep riders and our trusty pit crew who all kept the kids safe, fed, hydrated and happy for the day. As much as they enjoyed being on the track, between each lap was a sea of yellow and black all encouraging each other and having fun. A big Thankyou to the JT club for putting together such a fantastic event. I’m sure there will be plenty of Hornsby riders lining up to do this again next year! Check out some of the action shots here courtesy of 'By Amy Photography ' This weekend we have Rnd 2 of our series 2 Minikhana Championship at HJDBC. Get your bikes ready for another great weekend of competition...See you there! "Amazing, muddy, fun, wet, fun, hard work and fun” These were some of the words used by a few of our riders after last weekend (Did we mention fun?)
The weekend of 6th and 7th of July were a busy and fun weekend for our Hornsby riders who attended the JT Enduro series. Although the rain stayed away during both days the night rain made for a muddy and challenging track which bought smiles to faces. (And washing!) The two day event began early on Saturday morning after a lot of work from the JT club setting up 3 tracks with challenges and obstacles, one for the nippers, one for 50cc and Miniwheels and one for the 65 cc and 85 cc bikes. This meant plenty of riding for the kids and for some ex riders and parents who helped out with sweep riding. After a sighting lap each morning the riders completed a prologue lap of the loop which were timed using transponders. This allocated each rider a place for their first loop for the day with riders moving off with 40 seconds in between each bike. It wasn't long between loops before they were back out and negotiating the track once again after each lap. On the first day the small track riders completed approx. 15 timed loops and the big track riders, around 7. The second day came with more challenging riding as the overnight rain had created muddier sections of the track. Basically, the kids rode until the track became 'unridable' by approx. 2pm. All tracks called it a day by this time which left time for the raffle draw and presentation. (I think the older sweep riders were quite happy with the early finish!). Congratulations to all the Hornsby riders who showed skill, commitment and a great attitude. The following Hornsby riders were presented with a trophy at the end of the series; 50cc – 1st #5 and 3rd #25 Miniwheels 1st #17, 2nd #45, 3rd #8 65cc – 3rd #150 85JBW – 2nd #91 and 3rd #191 A huge thanks to JT for hosting this event. It gave our riders a chance to practice for the upcoming interclub which is an Enduro event and build on their skills as well as meet up with riders from other clubs and have fun. Once again we have a great selection of photos of the weekend thanks to Steve Jackson...click here to see if you can spot yourself having fun in the mud! Name: Tyla

A new Series began last Sunday 23rd June for our growing Club. 37 Hornsby members were up with the birds and kitted up for the day to be ready to compete for some fun and some points for the first round of Series 2.
After quite a bit of rain the event areas were in need of smoothing out from our trusty Bobcat drivers to ensure all areas were safe and competition ready for all riders. This created good conditions (not too dry, not too muddy) for some awesome close racing and competing in all events. Most of our groups had different winners across the events with the final results of the day being extremely close! A great day for those who were able to spectate and most importantly for the riders themselves. Events for the day included footed clover, accelR8, slow, bending, orange, ring return and mini cross. The standard of riding is continually improving, as is the sportsmanship, persistence, courage and friendship we encourage amongst the riders. Although the rain teased throughout the day we armed all our marshals with umbrellas which ensured the rain held off until racing was over! The winners for the day included; 50cc Auto - 1st Sienna #32 MiniWheels - 1st Joel #45 65cc - 1st Beau #98 85cc - 1st Byron #61 JBW - 1st Alex #24 We had 5 nippers again today: Harper #93 Coby #177 Jaxon #20 Saul #42 Ryder #823 George #124 The full results have been uploaded to the club website or you can click here to see where you ended up on the day. Also our trusty photographer Steve was out and about again today to capture some of the action. See if you can spot yourself amongst the days racing! All the photos have been uploaded to the ‘gallery’ page on the website or you can click here. Congratulations to all riders that competed on the day and also a big thankyou to our officials & marshals. We look forward to seeing you at the next event which is Rnd4 of the Interclub Series at Junior Trials Gwandalan on Sunday 21st July. Go Hornsby!!! Name: Izaac

Who likes playing Stuck in the Mud? On Sunday 16th June Blacktown Minibike club hosted Rnd 3 of the Minikhana Interclub Series. The day began with rain, finished with rain and had rain in the middle! This meant it was going to be very trying and slippery conditions for all riders which was a real change from the Baulkham Hills regional at the same location two weeks ago when racing had to stop in order to wet the track down. Our Hornsby riders excelled with 16 podiums for the day and over 38 riders participating.
As always, an early start to the day was required with gates opening at Horsley park at 6.30am. The umbrellas, gum boots and jackets came out and the coffee line was long! Approx 190 riders from 6 different clubs prepared themselves to compete in 6 events, some for the first time and others more experienced. Some riders moved up to a new class after winning their Interclub last round, others just trying to complete their events without black flagging for the day. The events included; ring return, orange, bending, minicross, accelr8 and footed clover. Two of these events were modified due to the slippery conditions and for the safety of the riders. The main challenge of the day, besides staying on the bike was for the riders to get in front of their opponents, otherwise they were at risk of being roosted and not being able to see out of their goggles. Our nippers participated non competitively in all events including having the afternoon on the small mincross track. A full list of the scores will be available on the website soon. The podiums for the day included: 50cc B Grade - #5 Jamie - 3rd 50cc C Grade - #32 - 1st MW A Grade - #207 Tia - 1st MW A Grade - #230 Andy - 3rd MW B Grade - #17 Chad - 1st MW B Grade - #45 Joel - 3rd 65cc A Grade - #98 Beau - 1st 65cc A Grade - #150 Sam - 3rd 65cc B Grade - #44 Danny - 1st 65cc B Grade - #61 Lincoln - 2nd 65cc B Grade - #34 Lucy - 3rd 85cc B Grade - #11 Nathan - 2nd 85cc C Grade - #158 Jacob - 1st JBW A Grade - #91 Declan - 1st JBW B Grade - #191 Amy - 3rd JBW C Grade - #271 Jamie - 3rd Once again our volunteer photographer Steve Jackson was out and about taking some awesome shots of the day. You can see some of the action here. Thanks Steve! Marshals & Officials certainly earned their hot shower at the end of this day! As always a huge thank you to everyone that helped make this day possible. Our next event is Rnd 1 of Series 2 at HJDBC. There will be a BBQ breakfast & lunch available at the club. Gates open at 8.00am Go Hornsby!!! Name: Jaxen

These were the words we heard at the presentation at the end of the Baulkham Hills Regional.
On Sunday 19th May 37 Hornsby riders travelled to Horsley Park to compete against all the other Minikhana clubs at the Baulkham Hills Regional. There was a good mixture of experienced and new riders, some riding in their very first ever regional. The usual comraderey was evident amongst the Hornsby club with all the riders looking out for each other. Today's events included; Figure8, Slow, Bending, Ring Return, Non Footing Clover, MiniCross and Orange. The 2 x largest competition groups for the day were Mini Wheels C grade with a massive 32 riders & 65cc C grade with a healthy 23 riders. As per usual there was another great showing of nippers with 42 eager riders ready to go in that group. Both the large & small Mini cross tracks had some new sections added which many of our riders were testing for the first time. The hard packed conditions caught out a number of riders but thankfully there were no major incidents with some very close battles all through the day. At times a couple of the corners got quite dusty and needed to be watered regularly throughout the day... There was a large raffle on offer at the end of the day with lots of happy kids going home with new dirt bike gear..thanks Baulkham Hills. Congratulations to all riders for attending. For the full list of results click here. The Hornsby podium winners are: Jamie #5 - 1st 50cc - C Grade Tia #207 - 3rd MW - A Grade Andy #230 - 2nd MW - B Grade Joel #45 - 3rd MW - B Grade Chad #17 - 1st MW - C Grade Sam #150 - 3rd 65cc - A Grade Lincoln #62 - 3rd 65cc - B Grade Lucy #34 - 2nd 65cc - C Grade Nathan #11 - 1st 85cc SW - C Grade Declan #91 - 3rd JBW - A Grade We were again lucky enough to have Steve Jackson taking some great action shots throughout the day which can all be seen here.
