![]() Sunday was our first working Bee for the 2016 season and with all the recent bad weather we've had in Sydney our club grounds were in some serious need of attention. Fortunately we had near perfect weather for the day and we also had a fantastic number of kids and parents turn up ready to lend a hand where needed. Our main focus was preparing the 2 x event areas for competition which involved levelling and re-roping aswell as the MiniCross track receiving a bit of a attention as can be seen in the pics below, no need for earth moving equipment with this team of hard workers ready to clear whatever obstacle was in their way. The track did also receive a bit of a face lift with the re-working of a couple of jumps on the back straight thanks to the help of a bobcat the previous day. There was also a lot of work in and around the car park area with a general tidy up and the inclusion of a new storage container which will eventually become our new canteen. Overall it was a very productive day with many projects completed and we are in good shape for the 2016 season. The comittee would like to thank all the parents and children who gave their time to help out on the day. We have a kickstart Endoresment day coming up this Sunday 7th Feb followed by our first practice round coming up on Sunday 14th Feb. Please keep an eye on the website to see any updates to the club calendar. Jonno was invited to compete in the Head 2 Head Enduro Cross at the Sydney Motorcycle Show this past weekend, against the top Trails and Enduro riders in Australia. The course consisted on tyre double and log jumps, tyre and log obstacles and a narrow plank of timber jump. Friday saw the mercury rise to over 40 degrees for the afternoon session of practice and the competitors finding it hard going and being Jonno's first time at Enduro Cross, found himself totally exhausted at the end of practice. Once Jonno had time to rehydrate, he had a chance to look around the show and was able to have a photo shoot and chat with one of his idols, Robbie Maddison. Saturday saw Jonno back at the Stadium at 11am on his Procycles prepared KTM SX250 - 2016, for practice and time qualification. The weather had changed dramatically from the day before, with the temperature below 20 degrees. Race time started at 2pm and saw the Stadium fill with over 2000 people, which daunted Jonno a little bit. Race time come and all fear was gone as Jonno won his three heats and more into the finals. The finals consisted rider elimination and saw Jonno finish fourth on the day Sunday, Jonno was back at the Stadium again ready for another round of Enduro Cross, in front of a similar sized audience as the day before. This round of time splits at practice and time qualification, saw Jonno's time splits between the top riders and himself dramatically reduced (top rider completing the course in 35 seconds and Jonno completing the course in 42 seconds). With the better time split, Jonno was up against the Transmoto test rider, who just pipped Jonno in the three heats.
Once again Louee Motocross complex was host to this years Xmas club weekend which consisted of 3 days riding
and presentations to see out the 2015 season of riding. We had a much larger turn out of members attending this year compared with last year and it was a great opportunity for all our members to get away and enjoy a few days away from the usual club surroundings and enjoy the fantastic facilities the Louee motocross complex has to offer. The weather was perfect for riding all weekend with the exception of a few thunderstorms in the evenings which settled the dust from the previous days riding. The presentation kicked off on Saturday evening with the final club championship places, overall club champion, Regional minikhana acheivment award, most improved rider and attendance awards. Some of the trophy presentations are as follows: 2015 Club championship winners after 8 x rounds: 1st 50cc Will #693 1st Miniwheels Mateo#31 1st 65cc Bradley#444 1st 85cc SW Joshua#66 1st 85cc BW Matt#262 The regional minikhana achievement awards: 1st Will#693 2nd Matt#262 3rd Ben#580 Most improved rider 2015: Alex#24 Overall club champion: 1st Matt#262 2nd Joshua#66 3rd Will#693 Full throttle Outstanding achievement award: Ben#580 There were also a number of attendance awards presented to riders throughout all classes and also a number of recognition awards presented to parents who have supported the club in various ways throughout the 2015 season. Congratulations to all riders and families for yet another outstanding year for the Hornsby Club, Merry Xmas from the 2015 committee. We hope you enjoy the festive season and we look forward to seeing you all and NEW members for the 2016 season. Well it wasn’t our birthday but the club celebrated the last round of the year in style with a large number of riders turning out for a fantastic days competition. In addition to our normal competition, our Annual General Meeting for 2015 was to take place and there were also a number of riders ready to battle it out for the final prize, the overall club championship.
The day got off to an early start with bacon and egg rolls on offer while riders signed on and scruitineering got underway. By 9.45am our AGM was completed and riders could roll onto the event areas. 6 events were completed during the morning session: Clover, Non Footing Clover, Slow, Orange, Bending, and Ring Bending. After lunch the competition shifted to the minicross track where the last handful of points were on offer. There were 2 x minicross events during the afternoon and again we were treated to some very close racing on the dry and dusty track. We also had a couple of parade laps from 2 of senior riders who are leaving us after the 2015 season. This was a good opportunity for the youger riders to clap and cheer as they watched they’re older competitors go around for one last time. Congratulations to all who competed on the day and good luck to all who placed in the club championship. As mentioned above the day started with our Annual General Meeting which was a great success and a big thankyou to all the new members that have joined the committee for the upcoming 2016 season. Also a big thankyou to the outgoing committee members who have devoted so much time and effort into this season and previous seasons. Without this kind of support our kids would not have a club to compete at. Finally a special thanks to 'The French Kitchen' for supplying this awesome cake for the day! Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October saw the running of the 2015 NSW Minikhana State Titles at the Ian Packer Junior Motorcycle Training Complex at Horsley Park.
Dry and Dusty Conditions greeted a committed 17 Hornsby Club members for two days as they competed in 11 events for the State Minikhana Title, the culmination of many riders efforts for the 2015 season. Blacktown Minibike Club hosted the event and was able to get through the scheduled six events for Saturday relatively quickly, opening up the opportunity to push some of the classes through some extra events in order to have a more relaxed day two of competition. This meant some classes would ride a massive eight events on day one, with only three left for day two. As with State Titles and all the points on offer, fortunes can change very quickly throughout the weekend and this became apparent towards the end of day two when the Junior Big Wheels A grade riders lined up for their last event, minicross. The first heat would see the three title contenders be matched up against each other with the winner being provided the opportunity to leap frog positions with a massive 17 points on offer in the final. There was plenty of pressure on this first race and it showed with the lead rider going down on lap two of four. That left two Hornsby riders fighting it out for the heat win that would allow them to go into the final and knock the other out. That win went to Matt #262, who went on to claim the win in the final of the JBW A grade Minicross helping him move from 5th at the start of the day into 2nd overall. After two days of riding and 11 events, Hornsby congratulated the following riders on their podium finishes and consequential titles: State Champion and 1st Place 50cc A Grade: Will #693 3rd MW A Grade: Mateo #31 2nd 65cc C Grade: Levi #223 2nd 65cc B Grade: Nick #17 Runner up State Champion and 2nd JBW A Grade (provisional): Matt #262 State Champion and 1st Place JBW A Grade (provisional): Mat #259 These wonderful results elevated Hornsby into 3rd place overall behind Blacktown and Baulkham Hills clubs. Well done to all our riders that competed on the weekend and all parents/officials that helped out, you are what makes this club a great club. Good Luck to all members in the final round of the Club Championship this weekend 1st November. Sunday 11th October was our second last club championship round for the year and after a slightly longer than usual break between rounds meant that riders were eager to make the most of the perfect weather conditions and battle it out on the track!
With a total of 8 events planned for the day, Ring bending, Ring return, Orange, Looping, Accelerate & brake, Footing clover, Non footing clover and Minicross the club grounds were about to get a serious work out! Once scrutineering and riders briefing were completed, riding got underway and with such a busy morning planned riders soon began to settle into a good rhythm and most of the roped events were completed before lunch. This freed up enough time for some sighting laps of the minicross track and even a couple of races ahead of schedule. After a well earn't break with a BBQ lunch and cool drinks on offer, the riders kicked into gear again for the final part of the afternoon with Minicross and there was some great battles between riders through all classes! Well done to all who attended and helped make an enjoyable day! Good luck to any riders competing in the State Titles on the 24th & 25th October and we look forward to seeing you here at out final Club championship Round 8 on 1st November. The seventh and final round of the 2015 NSW Minikhana Interclub Championship was held on Sunday 13th September at the Sutherland PCYC Minibike Club's grounds in Lucas Heights.
Potentially the smallest field of competitors for the whole year at a Regional were greeted by bright blue sunny skies and mid twenty degree temperatures. 11 Hornsby competitors made the journey for the day looking to bring home some competition jewellery and elevate either themselves or the Hornsby club in the overall championship. Seven events were run for the day with competitors testing their skills on the well groomed event areas including slow, accelerate brake, looping and of course Minicross to name a few. All Hornsby riders had a great day riding brilliantly and always showing great sportsmanship with the following riders finding themselves on the podium: 1st 50cc A Grade: Will #693 2nd MW A Grade: Mateo #31 3rd 65cc C Grade: Levi #223 3rd 65cc B Grade: Nick #17 2nd 85cc SW B Grade: Ella #855 2nd JBW A Grade: Matt #262 1st JBW A Grade: Mat #259 This was a great result with over 50% of Hornsby riders who attended making it onto the podium. This enabled the Hornsby Club to place 3rd overall for the day, so well done riders. That is the last Minikhana regional of the year which concludes the series. Over the weekend of October 24th and 25th, will be the 2015 Minikhana State Titles. This is a great event were riders will compete in a massive 11 events over the two days with the A Grade riders competing for the coveted State Minikhana Title. The Hornsby Club has a great history of State Champions with no less than 4 in the past 4 years. Supp Regs are now on the website and entries are open. Please visit the links page here for all the details and get your entries in quickly as they will close on Friday 16th Oct for general mail and Tue 20th October at midnight for all email entries. This will be a great weekend so come and have a go and support our great Hornsby Club. A wet and stormy morning greeted minikhana competitors for the penultimate round of the Minikhana Interclub Series when the Junior Trials club run their round of the interclub series on Sunday August 23rd.
Overnight rain and light showers on the morning of the event made the complex and event areas testing for all riders. Slippery mud made it difficult to maintain traction and worse, affected braking distances. If you were first into an event area, rest assured everyone else was watching to gauge what the conditions would be like. Nine Hornsby riders represented the club on the day with some pleasing results attained over the six events held. Members who managed to get on the podium for the day were: 1st 50cc A Grade: Will #693 2nd JBW A Grade: Matt #262 With a small amount of riders but some good podium places, that placed Hornsby in equal 3rd for the day overall. The final round of the NSW Minikhana Regional Championship will be held at the Sutherland Minibike PCYC Club in Lucas Heights on Sunday 13th Sept. Entries are now open and the supplementary regulations are available on our website through the links page here. This is a great event and is always well run. Please enter soon as this will be the last interclub meet before the State Minikhana Titles to be held in October on the weekend of the 24th and 25th Perfect Central Coast weather conditions greeted riders, parents, marshals and officials for the third and final round of the MX Tri-Series between the Junior Trials, Ku-Ring-Gai and Hornsby clubs on Sunday 16th August.
The JT club had gone to an enormous amount of effort to prepare both the small and large Minicross tracks adding some new features testing the riders skills throughout the day. Hornsby would like to say a very big thank you to JT for always putting on a great day and for the effort that all their members have put into their tracks and grounds. After riders briefing and practice/sighting laps were done, competition proper got underway with the large track getting through 4 races and the small track getting through 8. Hornsby was represented through all classes other than the nipper/demo class and most riders had at least one win for the day. Consistency paid the dividends at the end of the day and riders who had competed at all three rounds were rewarded for their good riding. Notably were Ben #580 who made 3rd spot on the podium for 50cc A grade and Levi #223 who made 2nd spot on the podium for 65cc C Grade. Well done to those riders and all the other Hornsby members who supported the series. Check out all the action in our gallery here. Next weekend will see the JT club run their round of the Minikhana Interclub Series, the penultimate round for 2015, Sun 23rd August. Entries have opened and will close at Midnight 21st August.
