![]() After quite a bit of wet weather across the Sydney region over the past week Sunday shaped up to be a great day for some exciting Minikhana action and with a large turnout of HJDBC riders and a track in near perfect condition the day was set to be fun and entertaining for everyone involved! After the MX round last weekend riders were ready to battle it out again for the second round of the final series of the year. Points were close and podium positions were bound to be a surprise in some classes at the end of the day. After yet another fantastic BBQ lunch consisting of snags and gourmet burgers, it was time to get down to business on the minicross track. Four lap heats and 3 lap finals allowed for a good amount of riding throughout the afternoon. Although the track was initially nice and grippy it didn’t take long for the ruts and braking bumps to appear along with a couple of very muddy sections for the riders to negotiate. Results for the day were as follows: 50cc Auto - 1st Ben #580 Miniwheels - 1st Jack #7 65cc - 1st Will #693 85cc - 1st Brad #25, and Junior Big Wheels - 1st Ella #855 Well done to all riders who competed on the day and once again a huge thanks to the wonderful volunteer helpers for their time spent in creating another successful riding day for our kids. Although it was a foggy start to the day we had a small group of 22 riders turn up, all very keen to get on the bikes and ride as soon as possible. Once scrutineering and riders briefing was complete, riding commenced nice and early. In total there were 7 events planned for the day which included footing clover, non-footing clover, ring return, orange, bending and looping and all the classes managed to finish before 11.30 am which meant riders had just enough time to get some sighting laps of the Minicross track done before lunch. After another exceptional BBQ lunch riders were back on the Mini-cross track ready to get racing. As always the girls and boys gathered to support one another behind the tyre walls as the riders battled for the checkered flag. With very muddy bikes and gear, the results ended up this way: 50cc Auto: 1st Jack #170 MW: 1st Lucy #34 65cc: 1st Will #693 85cc SW: 1st Jack #151 85cc BW: 1st Oli #628 There are 2 x practice days coming up; This Saturday 16/7/2016 and the following Saturday 23/7/2016 both commencing at 11am till approx. 3.30pm. Come anytime Cost is $25.00 ride fees or buy a 10 pack ride pass for $200.00 There will be no canteen in operation so please bring food and drinks. ![]() Last Sunday saw the second and final round of the MX twin series between HJDBC and Mt Kuringai. All competitors were ready and raring to go nice and early and enjoyed the relaxed and fun atmosphere of only having to do minicross for the day. After fueling their bodies with a bbq breaky the nippers got the day underway as they tested the well prepared track from the successful working bee the day before. (A huge thank you to all the members who were able to attend the working bee and support our club). This was closely followed by the 50cc autos showing some great skill at the start line. Next up were the Mini-wheel racers with only 3 x competitors for the day, each happily placing every race. Once again the largest group of the day, the 65cc's enjoyed the competitive nature of mini-cross but showed great companionship cheering each other on and sharing encouraging words on and off the track. The 85's concluded the event and as always put on a good show with their riding experience evident. Each class squeezed 6 races in for the day stopping for another bbq at lunchtime (Thanks again to the chefs!). Presentations followed and the following Hornsby riders made it onto the podium: 1st 50cc Auto - Ben #580 2nd 50cc Auto - Jack #170 1st Miniwheels - Ethan #38 1st 65cc - Levi #765 3rd 85cc SW - Brad #25 1st 85cc BW - Ella #855 As always a day like this doesn't just happen. Lots of hard work from the Hornsby club committee members went into preparing the day and this was evident by the success of the day. Also a special thanks to all our key officials on the day as well as all marshall's and parents for making the day a success. We have the Baulkham Hills Regional coming up next on 24th July. Please keep checking back for details of scheduled meets. ![]() Over the June Long Weekend, approx. 10 families ascended the Blue Mountains to the Loch Maree Enduro/Motorbike Complex for a weekend of riding and socialising. This is always a great weekend for the Parents to be able to dust off the riding boots and helmets and go out and get dirty with their kids, cutting up the multitude of motocross and enduro trails throughout the property. It is always a cold weekend and this weekend was no different. Friday evening and most of Saturday presented cold drizzling rain, made worse by a strong mountain breeze. As the sun started to set the clouds began to clear and the wind eased, allowing most of us to huddle around a rather hearty fire, edged on by some eager Dad’s charged up from a day of good riding and some adult medicine to help sooth some sore muscles. Overnight temps fell to -1 degree but the Sunday presented us with perfect riding conditions. Clear, blue skies and mild temperatures prevailed throughout the remainder of the weekend and everyone took advantage. Whether it was out on a group trail ride to the lookout, testing yourself on some challenging black runs, seeing who could set the longest distance record on the ski jump, or just mixing it with everyone on the MX2 track, most riders spent a full day and a number of tanks of fuel out enjoying the complex. The beautiful clear day led to a even chillier night with less people around the fire as the mercury fell to -3 overnight. As Monday dawned the complex woke to a thick frost over anything that wasn’t covered. Most were keen to get that last ride in before having to endure the obligatory pack up and drive home with all of the other weekend revellers. HJDBC would like to thank Wayne and Paul from the LochMaree complex for providing the place to us over the weekend. As always, there was plenty of wood to keep us all warm and plenty of water to wash our bikes down at the end of the day before packing them back in the trailer. HJDBC’s next social riding weekend will be later in the year at the Louee MX/Enduro Complex. Keep an eye out on the calendar and club emails for details ![]() With a clear but very chilly morning competitors were all geared up for round three of the 2015 Minikhana Regional Interclub series at Penrith Minibike Club last Sunday 29th May. Although it was a very cold start to the morning, by around 9 am conditions started to warm up and we were treated to near perfect riding weather for the rest of the day. The track was dry and competitors found the conditions slightly slippery however they enjoyed Penrith’s exclusive events; Acceler8 and Start and Park involving riders having to not only show their skills on the bike but having to race to the finish line on foot, not as easy as it looks in motorbike boots! The kids were also treated to some ‘half time entertainment’ watching the flat track riders whom were also hosting an event at the Nepean raceway. Congratulations to all our riders especially the nippers that attended the day and got to experience the Penrith track for the first time. At the end of the day, Hornsby congratulated the following riders for their podium positions: 50cc B Grade - 2nd Charlize #56 50cc A Grade - 2nd Ben #580 MW C Grade - 3rd Jack #7 65cc A Grade - 3rd Will #693 85cc SW B Grade - 3rd Will #48 JBW B Grade - 3rd Oli #628 Overall for the day Hornsby came 4th out of the seven clubs, which is a great effort with only a few riders attending the day. Hornsby would also like to thank all the members for their help in marshalling for the day and helping Penrith Club on their day which was conducted in lovely Autumn Weather. The next Regional event is scheduled for June 19th which is the Ku-Ring-Gai Miniwheels Regional. This is a Trials event and is to be held at Junior Trials Gwandalan. Click here for more details. ![]() Last Sunday 15th May saw some of our HJDBC members race in the first MX Tri-Series which was held at the Gwandalan track hosted by JT. It was a change for the Hornsby riders to see a dry track after a recent wet event at Gwandalan however they all appeared to enjoy the sunshine, riding well and enjoying some outstanding results on the day. All the riders were a credit to the club both on and off the track. It was great to see them cheering each other on from the pits. We had 8 boys on the main track and Lucy, our only HJDBC representative on the mini track. No final results for this event as there are obviously two rounds to go. Well done team Hornsby would like to say thank you to JT for putting on another great days riding and for the effort that all their members have put into their tracks and grounds. Next weekend will see the Penrith club run their round of the Minikhana Interclub Series, Sun 29th May. Entries have opened and will close at Midnight 25th May. Don't miss your chance to enter here. ![]() Last weekend marked that time of year again when Hornsby hosted our regional Minikhana event. This event was held at the home of the JT club, Gwandalan. A huge thank you to the JT committee for their time and efforts in ensuring the track was in good condition for our event. Some may remember the torrential weather during last year’s event. This year’s conditions looked as though they were going to be much better however at 6am on Sunday morning the heavens opened and once again during set up and sign on everyone was drenched. Fortunately as the morning progressed the rain eventually cleared and allowed all riders to participate and enjoy a great day of competition. With 145 riders and 7 events planned for the day it was all systems go! After a wet but successful scrutineering and riders briefing, events got underway with some events a little slipperier than others. One of our largest groups, the 65cc C graders were first to head out on the Motocross track testing out the slippery conditions. Other groups simultaneously battled to take out their event titles in footing clover, accelerate and brake, ring return, slow, orange and bending. With such smooth running of events by the committee members and marshalls on the day some groups completed all but 2 events by lunchtime. All riders stopped to refuel their bodies and were eager to get back on the track after lunch. Good sportsmanship was evident in the afternoon session when some groups finished earlier than others. These riders cheered on their other club mates as they finished their last few events for the day. The day ended with fantastic prizes being drawn in the raffle and trophies presented. Overall the Hornsby Club finished 3rd behind the Penrith club and congratulations to JT who finished in first place. Well done to these Hornsby riders that earned themselves a place on the podium: 50cc C Grade - Charlize O'Sullivan 1st 50cc B Grade - Jack Roberts 2nd MW C Grade - Jack Radocay 3rd 65cc B Grade - Will Parker Doney 1st 65cc C Grade - Liam Collins 2nd 85cc C Grade - Will Downey 2nd JBW B/C Grade - Oliver Philpott 3rd A big pat on the back to all Hornsby riders for their outstanding achievement in muddy conditions. A very big thank you to all Hornsby members for your help and commitment in running another superb regional event. Without the dedication and input from all involved, our regional event would never be a success. Hornsby JDBC would like to thank all of our sponsors for their ongoing and valuable support of the club. The next event on our calendar is round one of the Hornsby, KMW and JT Tri-Series MX which is to be held at the JT grounds again on the central coast on the 15th May. Consult the JT website here for more details. ![]() Our 2nd round of Season was held on Sunday 3rd of April 2016 with numbers lower than normal approx. 20 riders competed on the day. With some of our classes have to merge to complete events. This allowed the rider to progress through the events quickly and allow minicross citing laps before lunch. We had 7 events planned for the day which included: Clover (footing and non-footing), Orange, Bending, Looping, Ring return and minicross. With the weather perfect for riding, the tracks were dry and dusty and our Minicross Track a little worse for wear with Race Pace on it the day before. However all the riders managed to get through there events and produce some great riding throughout the day. Results for the day were as follows: Nippers: Sean and Sienna 1st 50cc Auto: Ben #580 1st Miniwheels: Jack #7 1st 65cc: Will #693 1st 85cc SW: Jack #151 1st 85cc BW: Ella #855 Well Done to all riders, parents and officials for making the day a great success. We look forward to seeing you all again at our own Interclub Event to be held at the grounds of JT on Sunday May 1st. A special thank you to our Steward Russell McGuirk for his services as without him we would have been able to run the day and Our Clerk of the Course Tony Miller for completing his hours now to become a Steward, well done Tony! We look forward to having you in control of our club days in the future. Photos have been placed on the gallery so check out the action here. ![]() On Sunday the 20th March saw the opening interclub event of the year hosted by Blacktown Mini Bike Club at their home grounds of Horsley Park. Blacktown had put a lot work in to ensure the grounds were above standard. Approx 90 riders attended the day in total with all 7 minikhana clubs represented. There was 6 events for the day, Minicross, Orange, Bending, Ring Return, Slow and Non Footed Clover. On a perfect riding day saw all Hornsby riders have a great day riding brilliantly and always showing great sportsmanship with the following riders finding themselves on the podium: 1st 50cc C Grade: Jack #170 2nd 50cc A grade: Ben #580 1st 65cc B Grade: Levi #765 1st 65cc C Grade: Will #693 2nd 85cc SW C Grade: Jack #151 Congratulations and amazing effort! We are so proud of you all. This was a great result with over 75% of Hornsby riders who attended making it onto the podium. With these fantastic results it saw the Hornsby Club to place 1st overall for the day, so well done riders. The next Interclub event will be the Hornsby Regional at JT Gwandalan. We would love as many of our members to come and compete and represent our great club on the weekend of May 1st (Sunday). ![]() The 2016 season kicked off to a great start on Sunday as 30 riders turned up to compete in this years first points round of competition at the Hornsby club. We have also switched back to a 2 series competition this year which gives the the riders a little more variety. After scruitineering and riders briefing, riding finally got underway at around 9.30 am. We had 8 events planed for the day which included: Clover (footing and non footing) Slow, Orange, Bending, Looping, Ring return and minicross. With little or no rain in the previous weeks, the track conditions were dry and dusty which normally makes riding quite challenging especially since a number of riders were stepping up to larger bikes. However their expert skills continued mastering the slippery and sandy conditions to produce some great riding throughout the day. Results for the day were as follows: Nippers: Aria, Lincoln, Sienna & Indiana 1st 50cc Auto: Ben #580 1st Miniwheels: Jack #26 1st 65cc: Will #693 1st 85cc SW: Jack #151 1st 85cc BW: Indiana #13 Well Done to all riders, parents and officials for making the day a great success. We look forward to seeing you all again at the next round on Sunday April 3rd. A special thank you to our Steward and Clerk of the Course for making the day possible.
