![]() Hornsby hosted an amazing regional last weekend with 177 riders and 7 clubs represented. A huge thank you to the JT committee for the use of their track and for their time and efforts in ensuring the track was in great condition for our event. It was great that we could all share in the use of the new facilities. It was the first time in a few years the Hornsby Regional was rain free. The weather conditions were perfect for all riders and spectators to enjoy. Many riders and their families camped at the grounds overnight to ensure they were ready for the early start on Sunday morning. With 7 events planned for the day it was all systems go! Sign on, scrutineering and riders briefing were all completed by 9.30am and all riders eagerly entered the pit area to prepare for the events. Our largest group, the demo riders began practising their minikhana events before heading off into the endure area while other groups simultaneously battled it out to excel in their event titles including footing clover, accelerat8, ring return, orange, looping, bending and minicross. The day was so well organised and all hands were on deck which meant smooth sailing for the morning. All riders stopped to refuel their bodies and were eager to get back on the track after lunch. Good sportsmanship was evident throughout the day as many riders were seen to encourage each other, even between clubs. A 45 prize draw raffle was held throughout the day with the major prize, a BMX bike, being won at the end of the day. All events, raffle and presentation were complete by 4.30pm, a big achievement by all. Overall the Hornsby Club finished equal 3rd. Congratulations to JT who once again finished in first place. Well done to these Hornsby riders that earned themselves a place on the podium: 50cc C Grade - Sean #27 3rd MW C Grade - Kai # 1st 65cc A Grade - Will #693 2nd 65cc A Grade - Noah #936 1st 85cc C Grade - Liam #86 1st BW C Grade - Ewan #220 2nd BW B Grade - Will #48 2nd It goes without saying that all committee members, officials, marshalls and other helpers need to be thanked. The next event on our calendar is the Hornsby/ KMW Twin Series MX day which will be held at the Hornsby club grounds. Entries can be found on the home page...Go Hornsby! ![]() Our 2nd round of series 1 was held on Sunday 2nd of April 2017 with well over 30 riders competing on the day including many new families. These included: Clover (footing and non-footing), Orange, Bending, Looping, Ring return, Accelerate and brake AccelR8 Minicross. Lunch time was exciting as we used our new canteen facilities for the very first time. The newly named "The Dirt Bite" was helpful in feeding all the hungry riders. With the weather perfect for riding and the track in good, fast condition all riders got two rounds of mini cross in. All races were competitive with some surprises on the podium this round. Minikhana is a motorcycle discipline that develops the children’s skill and speed over a range of events. It provides vital skills to enter the sport of dirt bike riding with its focus on training children in the art of controlling a motorcycle. Through a tightly controlled program of activities which include a range of skilled events and motocross, the children gain the skills to become safer riders in all disciplines. Clubs from all over the state will be represented and up to 200 of riders aged between 4 and 16 are expected to compete. This is a very family orientated sport and we expect parents, relatives, family and friends to come along to our regional event. Since 1970, Hornsby Junior Dirt Bike Club has provided a local supervised and legal venue for children to ride their dirt bikes. We are a committee of mums and dads who are passionate about promoting newcomers to our sport and training our kids to become competent riders. We compete under the junior motocross and minikhana rules set out by the sport’s controlling body Motorcycling Australia (MA).The Club’s survival over this time is due to the hard work of volunteers from within the club and local community. In order for our Minikhana Interclub event to be a success we are seeking assistance from businesses within the local community and wider area to contribute to helping us run this event. The main costs associated in running this event is in the awards we give to the kids at the end of the competition. As well as our monster raffle which we run on the day. To run these events we need the generous support of sponsors. Please take this opportunity to increase your company and/or product exposure through our club and events. If you would like further information, or to support and sponsor the club please contact us. Details are on the bottom of the Sponsorship Letter or you can email or facebook us… After a year of competition and hard work the HJDBC members celebrated with a weekend away at Louee Station, near Mudgee NSW at the end of November with 3 days of riding and end of year trophy presentation. Over 100 visitors made the trip this year which was a fantastic turn out with guests booking out most of the accommodation in and around the complex.
The conditions were pretty hot and dusty at times and the flies were out in force but that didn’t stop little kids and big kids alike riding until they ran out of fuel enjoying all the top quality tracks that Louee has to offer including various MX tracks, Enduro loops and grass tracks for the smaller bikes. On the Saturday evening the whole group gathered for a meal and presented those riders who earned themselves a trophy for the end of the season. The results were: 2016 Club championship after 2 series: Series 1: Series 2: 1st 50cc Ben #580 1st 50cc Ben #580 1st Miniwheels Jack #7 1st Miniwheels Jack #7 1st 65cc Will #693 1st 65cc Noah #936 1st 85cc SW Jack #151 1st 85cc SW Will #48 1st 85cc BW Ella #855 1st 85cc BW Ella #855 The Regional Minikhana achievement awards: 1st Will #693 2nd Jack #170 3rd Ben #580 Most improved rider 2016: Jack #170 Overall club champion: 1st Ben #580 2nd Ella #855 3rd Jack #7 There were also a number of attendance awards presented to riders throughout all classes and also a number of recognition awards presented to parents who have supported the club in various ways throughout the 2016 The comradery amongst both riders and their families was evident, whether it be pouring a friend a drink, making them a cup of tea or starting a bike there was always someone there to help! (Even if it was to cheer you on as you stacked on the way out of the car park). A huge thanks to Dave Brady from ‘The French Kitchen’ for assistance with the catering and driving to town to collect food and organizing the spit etc. and to Carlie and Nicole and their band of helpers for preparing all the food. Congratulations to all riders and families for yet another outstanding year for the Hornsby Club, Merry Xmas from the 2016 committee. We hope you enjoy the festive season and we look forward to seeing you all and NEW members for the 2017 season. ![]() tchy, dusty, competitive and fun were words used by Sunday's riders to describe the final round of the year. It was an early morning start with riders and their families arriving to the enticing aroma of bacon and eggs. The lure of the BBQ worked with all 2017 committee positions being filled at the AGM before riding began. Sincere thanks were given to all outgoing members and those new to the committee or taking on new roles were welcomed with open arms. The kids were eager to ride and completed 7 events before lunch. Ring bending, orange, slow, accelerate and brake, footing clover, non footing clover and ring clover. The demo riders were learning some new skills as they attempted some of the roped events for the first time. "That was the best day ever" was stated by one of our demo riders. A quick break and a bite to eat once again saw everyone ready for the track. All classes snuck in two races with results changing each time in some of the classes. Some members tried out the new grandstand to view the racing and thankfully it was a quiet afternoon for our St John Ambulance Volunteer. Our final winners for the 2016 season were: 1st 50cc Ben # 580 1st Miniwheels Jack # 7 1st 65cc Noah # 936 1st 85cc SW Will # 48 1st 85cc BM Ella # 855 Congratulations to all who competed on the day.The final club champions will be announced at the end of year Christmas party which will be held at Louee MX complex in 2 weeks time. In the past this has always been a great social event, giving our members & families the opportunity to hang out away from the usual club surroundings and enjoy a couple of days of fantastic riding that the Louee motocross complex has to offer as well as some fun and good company off the track. Last weekend saw the 2nd and 3rd days of the Tri-Series between the Junior Trials, Ku-Ring-Gai and Hornsby clubs. As always The JT club put on a fantastic weekend thanks to the 2 x beautifully prepared tracks which were at a premium standard ready for competition. Hornsby would like once again to say a very big thank you to JT for always hosting a great event and for the effort that all their members have put into their tracks and grounds event whilst part way through the build of their new facilities and also preparing for the Minikhana State Titles which is only 2 weeks away.
After riders briefing and practice/sighting laps were done, competition proper got underway with the large track hosting the 65cc & 85cc/150 bikes and the smaller track hosting the nippers, 50cc Autos and Miniwheels. Hornsby was well represented through all classes, and most of our riders had at least one win for the day. Consistency paid off at the end of the day and some riders who had competed at all three rounds were rewarded for their top riding ability. Notably were Levi #765 who finished 2nd in A grade 65cc, Jack #151 who finished 1st in A grade 85cc SW and Brad #25 who finished 2nd in C grade 85cc SW. Well done to the remaining riders who all rode well and put in a great effort over the 2 days of riding. Well done to those riders and all the other Hornsby members who supported the series. Check out all the action in our gallery here. We look forward to seeing lots of members at the next BIG event which is the Minikahana State Tiles hosted by Junior Trials on 22nd & 23rd October at the Gwandalan club grounds. Click here for more information. GO HORNSBY!!!! ![]() Last Sunday 11th September saw the second last round of the year with Series 2 Round 4 held. The weather was perfect and almost 30 riders showed up to enjoy the day's events. What a great turn out! With last week's kick start clinic held at the club we had a number of new young riders join the crew today which made a total of nine eager young nippers ready to roll and after riders briefing riders began to make their way down to the designated event areas. We had 8 events planned for the day: Orange, Bending, Ring return, Accelr8, Footing clover & Non footing clover and of course Minicross. As this was the second last round of the series every point counted towards the final championship points so the purple flag was put to use more than usual as riders protested the marshal's decisions and showed their passion for winning. While the bigger classes battled it out for points and practiced their skills things were slightly less intense in the demo class as the young riders were given the opportunity to practice on the event areas and learn some of the techniques needed to compete in minikhana. With the temperature warming up a well earned break was due and riders and marshals alike enjoyed another successful bbq, apparently the burgers were a hit! The second riders briefing prepared riders to hit the mini-cross track for the second last time this season to continue adding points to their tally. Some riders were also keen to put to use some coaching they received from the Race Pace clinic held at our club recently. There were a few hairy moments and near misses on the track which was a little dryer and dustier than we have seen over the last few months but the HJDBC sportsmanship was shown after each race. Results for the day were as follows: 50cc Auto - 1st Jack #170 Miniwheels - 1st Jack #7 65cc - 1st Noah#936 85cc - 1st Will #48, and 85cc JBW - 1st Ella #855 Well done to all riders who competed on the day and to all of our wonderful marshals for their time spent out in the bush. The next event on the calendar is the Sutherland Regional Minikhana on the 18th Septemberheld at the this Sunday 18th September. We look forward to seeing plenty of Hornsby members attend. GO HORNSBY! ![]() Round 3 got off to a flying start with a good number of regular riders turning up for the days event aswell as some new members all looking eager to get amongst the days competition and test out the track. A total of 8 events were planned and once again the competition was set to be fierce between certain classes & riders especially now that we are more than half way through the final series of the year. Sign on/scruitineering and riders briefing was all out of the way by 9.30 sharp and riders commenced the usual routines of the roped events with the inclusion of a slightly lesser known event 'clover ring return' which proved to be challenging but also fun for many of the riders and marshals alike. We also had a special guest on Sunday with the return of Jonno #911 who was there to help out and show the new members the ropes and how to master the minicross track. After a fantastic lunch, yet again, it was time to settle the scores on the minicross track. Four lap races meant it would go down to the final lap and in both races a couple of the classes did just that! Some great riding from all classes provided riveting spectating and as always the riders showed sportsmanship both on and off the track. The incredible riding and passion for competition and fun from all riders was displayed throughout the day which gave the new families who were visiting for the day an insight into our great little club. Results for the day were as follows: 50cc Auto - 1st Ben #580 Miniwheels - 1st Jack #7 65cc - 1st Levi #765 85cc SW - 1st Jack #151, and 85cc BW - 1st Ella #855 Well done to all riders who competed on the day and to all of our wonderful marshals for their time spent out in the bush. We look forward to seeing everyone again at our next event which is Rnd 4 on Sunday 11th Sept. Gates open at 8am. ![]() Unlike our own regional event at JT where the heavens opened, JT were lucky to have a glorious sunny day perfect for riding! A small contingent of 7 Hornsby riders joined the other 120 riders from fellow Minikhana clubs to take part in the days competition. Our riders had some tough competition in the 6 events (Orange, Bending, Accelerate and Brake, Ring Clover, Ring Return and Minicross) held, It was the first Interclub event for Jack #170 in A Grade who joined fellow member Ben #580 which saw both of them with some hard heats draws with tough competition, Ben was successful with a 1st place in Minicross and Accelerate and Brake. In the 65cc Class Will #693 also had some hard battles but was successful in getting a 3rd overall for day and saw him on the podium. Our biggest success for the day was Will #48 with a 1st overall for 85cc B Grade a great result with 3 x 1st and 2 x 2nd for the day, Well Done Will #48 you rode great and will now proceed to A Grade for his efforts. Hornsby finished 5th overall for the day with JT taking top honours. Thank-you to our other riders who came and represented the club you all did us proud! Next and final club regional is Sutherland PCYC in September followed by the State Titles to be hosted by JT in October! Go Hornsby! |
